I had the pleasure of spending a recent Sunday with a lovely model, Leslie Vera. It was a blistering hot mid afternoon and harsh overhead sunlight but with the amazing work of Elaine Yen Than, Make-Up Artist and creative reflector work the day was a success!
Our location for this shoot was at the beautiful Ranch Golf Club, a popular site for San Jose, California Photographers for Weddings, Bridal and Engagement shoots.
I chose to use the Nikkor 70-200 f2.8 VRII lens for it's awesome image quality, color rendition and beautifully soft bokeh (the out of focus areas, in front of and behind Vera). I was asked recently "why do photographers want a blurry background?". Well, for the reason you see below, it separates the subject from the background, giving the image some depth and dimensionality, leading our eyes to hers!
